Have You Heard of Faith Reformed Church?

If you live around this area, you might have seen the building of Faith Reformed Church in Black Creek. Perhaps you considered visiting us on Sunday morning for our worship service at 10:30. Probably you would like to know a bit more about us. Our first worship service was held on January 1, 1991 at the Black Creek Community Center. The congregation was made up of Christians who wanted to follow Jesus Christ by God’s will as recorded in the Bible. That first Sunday an offering was taken using the woven bun baskets from the Pastor’s home. Reverend Kenneth Alan Ramsay, the founding Pastor, led Faith congregation from 1996 to 2014, preaching and teaching the sovereignty and grace of God frame worked by solid Reformed theology which Pastor Ken called “Biblical Christianity”. The congregation met for six years at Stevensville Public School. A newly constructed Church building was opened in 1996 and enlarged in 2005. We are located right next door to the Black Creek Community Center at 3605 Black Creek Road, Stevensville.

Today, Faith’s congregation is a very mixed population of believers from varied backgrounds, cultures and Christian understandings. We are blessed to be led by our full-time Pastor Ricardo Gouvea, who holds a PhD in Theology and is also a Research Fellow and Visiting Professor at St. Paul’s University College at the University of Waterloo. Together with his wife Lilia (a Professor of Psychology and learned Bible counsellor) Pastor Gouvea has brought a new energy and excitement to our Church.

Sunday services begin at 9:15 with our Junior and Adult Sunday Schools followed at 10:30 by our morning worship service. A junior Church program and nursery are provided in the morning. Sunday evening’s worship service at 6:30 is more informal and a great blessing to those who attend. Weekly Bible studies, missions groups, mens and womens fellowship groups, a quilters group, a traditional bazaar, Vacation Bible School and an active seniors fellowship group are all part of the life of our Church.

With grateful hearts we thank God who has been so good to us. And we look toward the future, seeking new ways in which we may faithfully witness to God’s grace in Christ Jesus, and serve the Lord by serving the community around us. We invite you to join us. Our telephone number is (905) 382-2914. God bless you!
